Dear Friends,
For the month of March, YFC shared a number of stories via email and social media. This was called Report to the People. The story about Daniel, a young man in a juvenile institution, really spoke to me and I felt I needed to share it once more.
“What’s your favorite book of the Bible?” A harmless question that turned into a half hour discussion. Daniel, a young man within Crossroad Detention Facility, was curious and asked the question. From there the conversation moved on to family. Daniel, a foster kid, had no connection to his real family, and had spent the last 2 years in and out of the institutions. “I got to spend the last 2 Christmases with you,” he said. Daniel shared earlier that his favorite book of the bible was Job. “I can relate to him; it seems like every time I try to change things, it all falls apart. I wish I could be more like Job.”
Daniel’s story is common. Many youth don’t have a positive adult role model to look toward. YFC strives to provide those adults. To provide someone to encourage Daniel and those like him to succeed on the outside.
